Reality does not allow for simplicity nor atomicity – the mind does. History, and biology to physics, have taught us this simple truth. When even the most complex models of economics must be dumbed by the most restrictive and unrealistic parameters for the sake of predictive possibility, why then are we bound to extremities? Why do we fall into the ever-pervasive trap of duality, splitting rhetorics of voided categorisations? Nothing exists at the extremes; absolutely nothing – even the extremes at which outliers exist are not the absolute extremes. Hitler was not absolutely and entirely evil; and neither was Mother Teresa of angelic divinity. The enormous diversity of biological life should teach us this simple truth. Our own human meta-genome contains more microorganisms than endogenous human cells. 40 trillion human cells, 3.5 billion years of cellular evolution, and Hitler is simply evil? I cannot imagine a lazier and more pathetic analysis of a human being. He was originally, after all, a child playing on the ground beneath his feet, like any other loved infant. He can be the saviour of Germany following the inhumane degradation imposed by post World War Two treaties, a victim of economic-bio-psycho-social-political conditions of his time, and a bigoted war criminal of genocidal proportions.

The truth is, we are to blame for crimes of humanity; you reading this, and I writing this, are to blame. We are to blame for the conflicts in the Middle-East, for the war in Ukraine, for the war in Iran, for the hunger in Sudan, for the integrated circuit purchased, for the mineral exploitation of Africa, for the energy export of the Gulf… we, particularly of Western lifestyle (but not solely), are to blame - a hard truth to imbibe. We who enable, passively submit, silently condone, peddle propaganda, sycophantically sire and solicit, speaking with blind certainty and absent artistry of skill, denying ourselves and others the simple gifts of patience and forgiveness are to blame. Most of all, we are to blame because of what we purchase with money. Money is our only true vote; consumerism and money transfer is the most important democratic tool at our disposal. No matter the regime, no matter the tyrant, no matter the surveillance, the things we buy and invest in are the most determinable result we will see in the world economically, politically, and yes…even biologically. If the tyrant has no income nor consent, they have no power. The most effective civil disobedience is cooperative purchasing power. It is no mistake when a world leader tells the population that the best thing they can do in a crisis is ‘go shopping’.

I incessantly find myself in near constant dualistic clarity and confusion, hopping from extreme to extreme, until I finally take those deep box breaths and embody the patience for nuance, complexity, and rationality (if there is such a thing). Within all the certainty, I discover only questions. Within all the answers, I discover deeper depth of that which I think I know and do not know, and that which I do not know when I say I do. The irony is that decisions must be made. The error is that they must be made within the same flawed paradigms they have always been made. The greed of wealth and power is seen to be a given when, ironically, no quantity is ever enough; recognition and validation, fame cannot satisfy; possession is the opposite of sharing; sex is our fundamental weakness and our greatest gift; and death is inevitable with the exception of progressional progenic iteration (please excuse the lewd alliteration). The deceptiveness of a quick fix, the obviousness of a snap judgement, are things we are indefinitely vulnerable to and should be infinitely wary of in the face of both our inevitable demise and hopeful succession.

To prevent succumbing to the worst possible outcomes and to our beautifully vulnerable nature, I propose the following:

Tolerance and tact to counter and ground the extremes with purposeful, targeted, and universally cooperative purchasing of all consumers to ensure:
